Pulse-Controlled Coin Acceptor

Almost all coin acceptors can be connected to the RS232 port of your computer. Coin acceptors transmit an impulse (pulse) through the RS232 cable to the software on every insertion of a coin. The number of impulses will reveal the money value of the inserted coins.

Although this kind of control is fairly simple from a technical standpoint, it will serve most purposes.

Installing the Hardware

If you have any questions concerning your hardware, please contact the dealer who sold you the hardware.

Configuring the Payment Module

    In general
After installing SiteKiosk and connecting the hardware to your computer, you can create a configuration file with the help of the configuration tool. Select the entry "Coin Acceptor: Pulse Devices" from the list of available payment devices and click on the button Configure.

    Pulse Interface
Select your device from the dropdown list.

    COM Port
Select the COM port from the dropdown list to which your device is connected.

    Value per Pulse
The coin acceptor uses simple pulse values, i.e. it transmits one or several impulses on the insertion of a coin. The pulse value is defined as the value credited per signal, e.g. 0.25 money units per impulse.

    Example for 0.25:
2 EURO equal 8 pulse values at 0.25 EURO each
1 EURO equals 4 pulse values at 0.25 EURO each
50 Cents equal 2 pulse values at 0.25 EURO each
20 Cents equal 1 pulse value at 0.25 EURO each (has to be disabled)

Your coin acceptor is now ready for use.

Configuring the payment dialog box (user's view)

The user will be shown a payment dialog box if there is no credit available. All other settings merely concern the appearance of the dialog box.

    Checkbox
The checkbox will determine whether the specified value will be shown in the dialog box (enabled) or not (disabled).

    Coin value
The coin value specified here is displayed in the dialog box whenever there is no coin image available. If the result of the division of the coin value and the impulse value does not result in a whole number, this value will not be accepted.

    Impulses
Is derived from the coin value divided by the impulse value. The value has to be a whole number.

    Image file
Instead of the coin value you can also have images of the coins displayed. You will find a large number of coin images in the ..\SiteKiosk\SiteCash folder.
