IMPORTANT:
You should not have to make any adjustments here. Use these functions only if you want to admit additional domains or if you want to add your own search patterns!
In addition to containing a list of several 100,000 domain names automatically classified as forbidden (e.g.
http://www.playboy.com) and of several thousand domain names automatically classified as allowed (e.g.
http://www.cnn.com), the Content Filter is able to search web pages according to criteria that you set (as long as these pages do not belong to either of the two categories mentioned).
Note that SiteKiosk processes the different filter lists in this order: user-defined URLs, SiteKiosk URL list, user-defined search patterns, SiteKiosk search patterns. This means if an URL is explicitly allowed or forbidden, the search patterns will not be processed for that URL. If you want to block a specific URL, do not use the search patterns of the SiteKiosk Content Filter but the SiteKiosk Surfing Area settings instead.

Customized Search Patterns
Web pages not classified already will be searched according to certain criteria. As soon as a match for a criterion is found, the page will not be displayed and a dialog box will be shown to the user telling him or her why this page was blocked. You can add your own terms to the list. In order to do so, click on "Add". You can also "Edit" or "Delete" search patterns.
Search pattern
Enter the word or the combination of words you want the Content Filter to find, e.g pornography. If you make use of an asterisk (*) in combination with a word, e.g. porn*, expressions like pornography, porno, porn movie will also match the search pattern. You can also enter word sequences such as under 21. Please note that we have already included several hundred combinations of words in our blocking list for the German and English languages. Feel free to expand the criteria range, although we emphasize, you do not have to.
Document title
Will search for the title of a document. The title of document is always displayed in the upper blue window bar of the regular browser as well as when you add the page to your favorites.
<Meta> tags
The so-called meta tags of an HTML document contain information on the content of the document as well as keywords for search engines. Meta-tag information cannot be seen on the actual HTML page.
URL (Address)
Will search for the URL, i.e. the web page's address. You will, for example, find blocked *sex. and the URL in the search list. As a result, all web pages like www.sex.com, www.hardcoresex.com, etc. will be blocked.
<Body> tag
The visible part of an HTML-page is located in the body tags. If you assign the flag body tag to a search pattern, this search pattern will be searched for in the visible text of an HTML page. Please choose carefully the words you enter here. You should not, for example, enter the word SEX here because this term also appears on so many pages that do not have to be classified as morally damaging to minors.
Explicitly admit certain words
You can also explicitly admit certain words. For example, if Sex* is forbidden, you will still be able to admit sexuality. As soon as sexuality is found, the page containing this word will no longer be blocked.

URLs Excluded From Filtering
The Content Filter operates with forbidden and allowed domains. Here are some short explanations on these:
Forbidden domains:
For example http://www.playboy.com. This domain is only one of approximately 320,000 included forbidden domains. As soon as this domain is requested and provided you have enabled the internal evaluation list, the page will not be displayed. Sometimes, however, harmless pages are blocked as well. Please send us an e-mail about the pages that you think were blocked without a reason. If necessary, we will adjust the blocking list.
Allowed domains:
For example http://www.cnn.com. This domain is only one of several thousand included allowable domains. As soon as this domain is requested and provided you have enabled the internal evaluation list, the page will be displayed and will no longer be searched according to the "SEARCH PATTERNS".
This might also result in the display of erotic content.
Content:
Keen.com is an example of a domain included in the allowed list. However, this domain also features an "adults only" section, which will now, of course, not be blocked. Should you require to block this page explicitly, you should add an entry containing "keen.com" to the surfing area.
Every URL added to this section is handled like an allowed domain. Therefore, it is not further restricted by the search patterns.

Deny the following categories
The Content Filter features a list of hundreds of thousand domains that are flagged as either allowed or forbidden. We have now categorized the majority of these list entries in order to make it possible for you to expand or narrow the range of forbidden and allowed subject areas, respectively.
Soft Erotic
Content comparable to the softcore content shown on public TV or in magazines.
Extreme content
Sites falling into this category contain content of a right wing extremist or extremely violent nature.
Gambling
Subsumed under this category are all sites that offer gambling games over the Internet.
All other domains (not classified)
The majority of the items on the filtering list have yet to be specified in greater detail. This category contains all entries that have to be blocked under all circumstances.
Chats
This category comprises all domains whose prime intention it is to provide online chats with other participants.
Drug content
All sites dealing with harmful drugs such as cannabis, cocaine, etc belong in this category. However, all sites providing drug education are excluded from this category.
Anonymizer
Anonymizers are sites that make it possible for users to surf the Web anonymously by masking third party content below the domain level. If enabled, this option will prevent the Content Filter from recognizing the URL that was actually requested. This is why you should altogether abstain from allowing the use of anonymizers because otherwise users will be able to circumvent the content filter.
Example: http://www.anonymizer.com/
Forbidden by German authorities
Refers solely to sites forbidden by the German authorities (Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Schriften). If you want to remain to be allowed to operate public access terminals, you certainly want to make sure that at least this checkbox is turned on!
Webmail Provider
This category contains all providers of e-mail gateways such as http://www.hotmail.com.
Web sites for kids
Refers to sites addressing the needs of children
