Gestión de contraseña y combinación de teclas de salida

This page of the Configuration Wizard basically deals with the many different possibilities you have when you want to exit the browser and the [Plug-Ins].

Exit SiteKiosk

    Escape key (ESC)
You can exit SiteKiosk by means of the ESC key. If you have defined a password, an 'Exit' dialog box will appear (see below).

Deactivate password protection and display "Exit" button
This option was especially designed for the use of SiteKiosk as a browser within another application, e.g. if SiteKiosk is launched from within Director or Macromedia applications. Note that the system will no longer be protected if you turn this option on:

    1. You will no longer be able to specify a password in the Configuration Wizard
    2. SiteKiosk's toolbar will contain a Close button
    3. The user will be able to exit SiteKiosk by clicking the Close button or by pressing ESC without being asked for confirmation.

    User defined key combination
Instead of the ESC key you can also define a key combination here which will call the Exit dialog box.

    The default combination is: CTRL-ALT-F8
Simply click into the field Define Hotkey and hold down the key combination of your choice.

Special keyboards: Calling logout box by command entry
Some special keyboards have neither an ESC key nor keys like CTRL, ALT or function keys. If you should employ such a keyboard, you can also call the logout box by doing the following:
    1. enter the command skcmd://quit into the address field
    2. as an alternative, you can also make use of the JavaScript command SiteKiosk.Quit(true); via the SiteKiosk Object Model

    Configuration password
You will be able to exit SiteKiosk by means of the password you define here. In case the terminal is used together with SiteRemote 3 it asks for user name and password of a SiteRemote 3 user by default. The password from the SiteKiosk configuration is then only used if a connection to the SiteRemote 3 server is not available.

This configuration password will also be required if the computer is started in "safe mode" with shell replacement enabled.

    General password
Even if you have forgotten your configuration password, you will still be able to use the general password in order to exit SiteKiosk. You will find the general password on your invoice or in the e-mail we sent you and that contained your registration information.

The general password is composed of the registration code's first eleven-characters sequence.

    Example:

    Licensee: "Test - 1 License(s)"
    Signature: "MTW7C-9W6FP-6F9RK-BDTQC-R43B2"
    General Password: MTW7C-9W6FP

Thus, the general password can only be used in combination with your copy of SiteKiosk. If necessary, PROVISIO can provide you with a copy of your license key.

Registration key and password on USB stick
You can save your registration key and general password to a USB memory stick. You will then be able to insert the USB stick to open the SiteKiosk exit dialog box without entering a password while the SiteKiosk session is still running. This will work on all computers used under the same SiteKiosk license.

You can also use the USB stick including the registration key to automatically register several SiteKiosk installations with the same license. Simply insert the stick into the computer and open SiteKiosk.

Limited quit dialog with secondary password
Allows you to provide additional users with a second, limited Exit dialog box. You should consider this option, for example, if you want to restrict the access rights of a particular staff member. Then they are e.g. only allowed to shut down or reboot the computer.

In case the terminal is used together with SiteRemote 3 it asks for user name and password of a SiteRemote 3 user by default and displays the dialog according to the SiteRemote 3 rights settings of that user. The password from the SiteKiosk configuration is then only used if a connection to the SiteRemote 3 server is not available.

Enables a second quit dialog box with limited options which is accessible through a second password. This password should not be the same as the one of the regular quit dialog box because the regular quit dialog box would not be displayed any more in this case.
Enable limited quit dialog with second password

    • Quit SiteKiosk
Displays the option "Close SiteKiosk", which will close SiteKiosk.
    • Shutdown computer
Displays the option "Turn off Computer", which will shutdown the computer.
    • Reboot computer
Displays the option "Reboot Computer", which will restart the computer.
    • Logout user
Displays the option "Log Off User", which will log off the current user and return to the login menu of the operating system.
    • Payment Module Administration Menu
Displays the option "Payment Module Admin", which will display the Payment Module administration menu if it is enabled in the section "Payment Devices". For more information on the SiteCash administration menu, click here ..»

Automatically exit SiteKiosk after idle time of X seconds
This option allows you to have SiteKiosk shut itself down automatically after a certain period of idle time (no mouse movements/keyboard entries). You should only turn this option on if an additional tool controls the terminal. Do not use this option together with shell replacement.
If the option 'Do not activate Screen saver if credit available' of the advanced screen saver settings page is activated, SiteKiosk will only close when there is no credit left.

'Exit' Dialog Box

The 'Exit' dialog box will appear after the successful entry of the correct password. In case the terminal is used together with SiteRemote 3 it asks for user name and password of a SiteRemote 3 user by default. The password from the SiteKiosk configuration is then only used if a connection to the SiteRemote 3 server is not available.
The dialog box lets you choose between the following options:

    1. Close SiteKiosk
Be careful when using shell replacement.
Closes SiteKiosk and shows the Windows Desktop. Please note: The SiteKiosk start options are set back. That means that SiteKiosk will not start automatically when you restart the system.
    2. Log Off User (deactivate start settings)
Logs off the user and opens the Login Screen. The SiteKiosk start options are set back. That means that SiteKiosk will not start automatically when you restart the system.

      Note:

The Quickstart Menu of SiteKiosk always displays the start settings last used to start SiteKiosk. It does not necessarily display the currently active settings.
E.g. you selected Autostart the last time you started SiteKiosk but then closed SiteKiosk using the option „Log Off User (deactivate start settings)“, the Quickstart Menu will still display Autostart to make it more convenient to quickly select the last used start settings again.
    3. Log Off User (start settings are not changed)
Logs off the user and opens the Login Screen. Start settings remain as configured.
    4. Configure SiteKiosk
Enables you to edit the SiteKiosk configuration (even when using the SiteKiosk limited user account!).
    5. Payment Module Administration Menu
Starts the Administration Menu for the SiteKiosk payment feature if it has been activated.
    6. Turn Off Computer
Closes all applications and turns off the computer. Please note: The SiteKiosk start options remain unchanged.
    7. Restart Computer
Closes all applications and reboots the computer. Please note: The SiteKiosk start options remain unchanged.
    8. Show Debug Window
Opens the debug output window of SiteKiosk.
    9. Show Current Logfiles
The current SiteKiosk logfile will be opened with Notepad.
    10. Show Windows Log
      Displays the Windows event logs.
    11. Run CMD Prompt
Opens the cmd.exe of Windows to allow command line input.
    12. Run Task Manager
This option starts the Windows Task Manager.
