Adjustable files

  • SK installation folder/Bitmaps/wizard.png
    The wizard.png file displays the upper image in the SiteKiosk Configuration Wizard. You can replace this file with one of your own provided that it has the same file type.
  • SK installation folder/Bitmaps/sitekiosk_title.ico
    To change the SiteKiosk icon in the upper left corner of the title bar of a new browser window and in the window selection of the task bar, create a new icon file in ..\SiteKiosk\Bitmaps and name it sitekiosk_title.ico.
  • SK-Installationsordner/Bitmaps/watchdog_bg.jpg
    This is the background image of the SiteKiosk Software Watchdog. You can see this image for example when SiteKiosk is being restarted during runtime.
  • SK installation folder/skins/public/default/naverror.htm
    SiteKiosk uses this file when a navigation error occurs (such as "404 page not found"). You can replace or edit the file to display the information you like or use scripting methods within the file (e.g. SiteKiosk Object Model) to let it perform special tasks.

    Please note:
    You will need some basic knowledge about altering browser and touchscreen layouts. Unfortunately, we cannot provide any support when you decide to create your own skins (apart from this detailed documentation)!

    Necessary Components

      DEFAULT SKIN
    • Path when using Default Skin: SK-Installation folder/skins/default

      We recommend you always use SiteKiosk's Default Skin as your template because this skin contains all necessary components and will also make it easier for you to adjust the existing skin to your needs. You should, therefore, make a backup copy of the folder "Default" and of the file "Default.skskin".

      Proceed the same way when you are creating a touchscreen keyboard.

      .Skskin File
    • Path when using Default Skin: SK-Installation folder/skins/default.skskin
    • Comprehensive Documentation ..>

      This XML file makes your skin available to SiteKiosk's Configuration Wizard. In this file you specify the skin's name as well as the preview image for the Configuration Wizard:

      <skin name="Default Skin" filename="Default.skskin">
      	<browserskin name="Default Skin">
      		<preview>skins\Default\preview.png</preview>
      		<skindef>skins\Default\DefaultSkindef.xml</skindef>
      	</browserskin>
      </skin>

      The .skskin file may contain further information in order to make it possible to download the entire skin from the Internet. To accomplish this, insert the element <files>. You should go to the skins folder and look at the files ending in .skskin.

      You can combine the touchscreen-skin information and the browser-skin information and store them in a single SKSKIN file.

      Definition File .XML

    • Path when using Default Skin: SK-Installation folder/skins/default/defaultskindef.xml
    • Comprehensive Documentation Browser Layout..>
    • Comprehensive Documentation Touchscreen Layout..>

      The .XML file contains all definitions that determine the layout of both the browser and the onscreen keyboard.

      Stringtable.xml (Language elements)

    • Path when using Default Skin: SK-Installation folder/skins/default/stringtable.xml
    • Comprehensive Documentation Stringtable.xml..>

      In theory, you can provide as many different languages in SiteKiosk as you want. Each Skin has its own XML file which contains all language-related information.

      Every time the user clicks the Logout button or the screensaver comes on, the language currently displayed will be reset to the default language or the language your operating system uses.

      preview.png File
      You will need a preview image of the skin you want to use in order to be able to display a preview of the browser layout in SiteKiosk's Configuration Wizard. This file must be saved as a .png file (24 bit colour depth) and needs to be 256 pixels wide and 92 pixels high. Most customary image editing software allows you to create such an image.
